What's Involved In Channel Drainage Cleaning
Cleaning and blockage removal
We lift the grates, clear the run properly and jet wash out the silt and solid matter that’s built up along it, then check the outfall so we know the water is actually going somewhere. Everything we take out is removed from site.
Planned maintenance
Most sites need visiting two to four times a year depending on traffic, tree cover and how much muck the site generates. We agree a schedule, work to it, and flag anything starting to fail while it’s still cheap to put right.
Repairs and installation
Where heavy vehicles have been running over the drains, the channel and the ground around it eventually breaks up. We dig out the damaged section, repair the drain and reinstate the surrounding surface so it’s properly supported and doesn’t go again. We also install new channel drainage to new and existing sites where the current setup isn’t coping.

FAQs
It depends on the site. Somewhere with heavy vehicle movements, nearby trees or a lot of surface debris might need clearing quarterly. A quieter site may be fine twice a year. We’ll tell you honestly after we’ve seen it.
Standing water after rain is the obvious one. Also look for water tracking across the surface instead of into the channel, silt visible through the grates, staining or moss around the run, and cracking or crumbling in the concrete either side of the drain.
Water that can’t drain sits on the surface and gets underneath it. Over time that breaks up concrete and tarmac, undermines the drain itself, and creates a trip and slip risk across your site. Repairs at that stage regularly run into thousands, and sometimes tens of thousands, where a clean would have cost a fraction of it.
